Official Statement of 26 May 2020: TELEKOM VIVICITTA VIRTUAL RACE
Dear Runners,
The 35th Telekom Vivicitta Spring Half Marathon will be organized as a virtual event instead of the traditional race, in respect of force majeure clause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the restrictions made by the Hungarian Government and other reasons beyond our control.

Why virtual? The Telekom Vivicitta Virtual Run is a safe event where you can compete against others nearly anywhere without having to meet them in person.
Track your run and upload the completion at a result submit page and we will send you this beautiful Finisher’s medal.

Click here to find more information on the Telekom Vivicitta Virtual Run.

Due to technical reasons, there is no possibility to move your registration to the virtual event.

Therefore, because of the cancellation of the original event, we are crediting you with the 120% of your original entry fee for the canceled race, which has been uploaded already to your BSI account.

Use this credit to register for any of our upcoming events – including the Telekom Vivicitta Virtual Run – published at our online registration page. You can register not only yourself but registering someone else is also possible.

To participate in the virtual event, you will have to re-register for the distance you would prefer, for which you will be able to use up your credit.
By registering for the event, 2€ of your entry fee automatically goes to a charity as a donation. Choose which charity would you prefer to support.

In case of paying a lower entry fee than your original Vivicitta entry fee, the balance remaining on your account can be used until 12.31.2022.

Don’t want to register for the Telekom Vivicitta Virtual Run event? No problem, you can still register for any BSI-organized event in 2021 and 2022 – by using your credit until 12.31.2022.

Official Statement of 13 March 2020: RACE POSTPONED

According to the emergency measures set up by the Hungarian Government on 11 March, every outdoor event with more than 500 participants has to be canceled until further notice. This measure affects the Telekom Vivicittá Spring Half marathon and the Running Expo, the biggest outdoor sports event held in spring.

A different day is going to be set for the event. The possible dates are under discussion but it’s not going to be easy to find a suitable time for an event that happens in the capital with the participation of 30,000 runners. As soon as we have the exact date, we will immediately inform all runners through our official channels.

The participants who have already registered to the race have nothing else to do at this point; the previous registrations are valid for the new date as well.

There are no changes regarding the dates of our other events scheduled from May–we will notify you about any modifications later if necessary, depending on how the situation evolves.

This situation is extremely hard for all the runners who have been preparing for the race for months, as well as for the organizers and for all our colleagues. We have been working on the event for almost a year – but at this moment, the only right decision is to put everybody’s life and health first.

At this moment, we are unable to provide more information. That means we cannot answer your questions at any of our channels (emails, messages) regarding the postponed race.
Further information will be available only after we reach a consensus on the new date of the event.
For that, we must consult with the Hungarian authorities.
We would like to ask you to read through our website to find an answer to your question.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We sincerely hope to see you soon at the 35th Telekom Vivicittá and to be able to greet you at the finish line! Even in these hard times, we wish you joyful runs and good health until we meet!

Official Statement of 11 March 2020

Dear Runners,

On 11 March at 2 p.m., Hungary declared a state of emergency in the entire country due to the coronavirus.

In a decree of the Hungarian Government, the implementation of indoor events with over 100 participants and outdoor events with over 500 participants is prohibited until further notice.

This is very new to us. We are constantly watching the news, constantly looking for better solutions. We are now verifying all details with responsible authorities, and on what we should do in preparing for the following period.

We would like to kindly ask you for your patience as this information is very new. We will be informing everyone about the details until this Friday afternoon (13 March) at the latest ?

Official Statement of 9 March 2020

Dear Runners,

The 35th Telekom Vivicitta Spring Half Marathon will certainly take place on 4 and 5 April 2020, unless Hungary’s Operative Board and the relevant Hungarian authorities decide otherwise.

We are constantly following and monitoring the developments regarding the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) and we are cooperating with the Hungarian health authorities.
While working on the preparation of the event, we are following responsibly the recommendations of Hungary’s Operative Board on the holding of major open-air events.
Currently, there are no official measures in place that restrict such open-air events being held in Hungary, unlike some European countries.

However, any dramatic change to the current situation can affect the above-mentioned statement.
We are following closely the news and getting updates daily.
Should there be any changes or new information, we will inform every registered runner immediately, as well as communicate it through our channels.

We are constantly following the statements on coronavirus of other, major European running event organizers. The Vienna City Marathon – that is planned to be held on 18 and 19 April 2020 – has published a statement on its channels that included the following paragraph:

„In the risk assessment carried out according to the current model of the Austrian Ministry of Health, the Vienna City Marathon achieves the lowest and therefore best rating level. Important reasons for this are its character as an open-air event with participants who are fit, healthy and mostly under 60 years of age…”
As the two running events are quite similar regarding their characteristics and scale, this paragraph could hold true for the 35th Telekom Vivicitta Spring Half Marathon as well.
