The pre-COVID running tourism is back: Over 10,000

The pre-COVID running tourism is back: Over 10,000 participants at Hungary's largest half marathon!

On September 10th, the BSI organized the 38th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon, featuring a route adorned with Budapest's most beautiful World Heritage buildings and panoramic views. The main event was the half marathon, where more than 8,000 participants eagerly awaited the starting signal with tremendous enthusiasm and motivation.

In the individual half marathon distance of the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon, 6,500 runners took part, with 800 in the KOMETA Half Marathon Relay for 2 and 900 in the Laufenn Half Marathon Relay for 3, including both enthusiastic amateurs and professional runners. Participants came from 94 countries and 770 domestic locations to Budapest to conquer Hungary's most popular half marathon running event.

While three Kenyan runners secured the top three overall positions, dominating the race from start to finish, professional Hungarian male half marathonists in the championship category finished just a few seconds behind.

In a thrilling finish, Ádám Lomb was the first to break the finish line tape (1:04:57), followed by Gáspár Csere (1:05:01), and Dárius Ádám Farkas (1:08:45) in second and third place, respectively.

The day continued with the Xlyem Lágymányos Family Run, featuring a 2300-meter course, where families ran hand in hand, supporting each other, creating lifelong memories.

The event concluded with the Manna ABC 10 km run, where 1500 participants braved the heat, running in temperatures ranging from 32-34 degrees Celsius. András Gáll emerged as the overall winner with a time of 34:18, followed by Darius Silaghi (34:38) in second place and Péter Kelemen (35:05) in third place.

Participants in the 38th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon were welcomed at the finish line with unique finisher medals and generous finisher packages, thanks to the event sponsors.

The 38th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon also served charitable purposes, raising a total of 5 million Hungarian Forints in donations.

One thing is for sure: we'll see you again next year! 💜🏃‍♂️
