All our Saturday and Sunday distances are now fully booked, so we can proudly say: the 40th Telekom Vivicittá will be a sold-out event, filled with incredible energy and excitement! This year, a record-breaking 31,530 people have registered to line up with us in the heart of Budapest on April 12–13.
There’s been extraordinary international interest in this anniversary edition: participants are coming from 106 countries and 1,177 Hungarian towns and cities to be part of the biggest recreational sports event of the spring. We’ve never had so many international runners before, and for the first time ever, the number of female participants exceeds that of the men — we’re gearing up for a truly historic weekend!
With the 40th Telekom Vivicittá, we’re opening a brand new chapter. Nearly 32,000 people will arrive on Margaret Island over the course of April 12 and 13 to pick their favorite distance and enjoy the pure joy of movement together.
Over the two days, participants can choose from 13 different distances, from a city walk to a 7 km run or a half marathon — individually, in pairs, or in trios. There are 11,930 people registered for Saturday and 19,600 for Sunday. No on-site registration will be available — all slots have been filled!
We’re especially delighted that 3,300 international runners have registered this year — a 40% increase compared to last year! And runners from 37% of all Hungarian settlements are also joining — yet another record! Gender participation is also hitting a milestone: 51% women, 49% men — we’ve never had such a strong female presence on the start line.
“For us, Telekom Vivicittá is not just a race — it’s a powerful community experience, where the love of movement brings people together from across borders. We’re especially proud to see so many of you here with us, and to welcome more female runners than male for the very first time! This also marks the beginning of BSI’s anniversary year, with several of our events celebrating milestones in 2024. The popularity of Vivicittá is a true gift to us — and the fruit of decades of hard work. We’re preparing for a real festival of smiles, where every participant walks away with memories to last a lifetime!”
– said Árpád Kocsis, Managing Director of Budapest Sport Office.
This year’s program features a brand new race as well: the 10.5 km Szoboszlai Run, named after the world-class Hungarian footballer. The limited 300-person field will receive custom race shirts and take off right after the 10 km race on Sunday. HUF 2,000 per entry from this run will go towards supporting the integrated gym of the SUHANJ! Foundation, because we’re also moving for others.
And if all that wasn’t enough: every participant will receive a unique digital “champion cover”, which will be available and shareable on Nemzeti Sport Online. Look for yourself in the Telekom Vivicittá section on nemzetisport.hu — you are the stars of the show!
See you on Margaret Island — let’s run into history together!
